.NET Identity is a comprehensive framework designed for managing user authentication, authorization, roles, and profiles in modern .NET web applications. The general perception within the .NET community is that .NET Identity cannot be used with Interactive Blazor components. This perception is largely based on the fact that .NET Identity relies on HttpContext, and Microsoft chose to implement the Identity UI in .NET 8 using Static Blazor components. This perception also drove the decision in .NET 9 to introduce the [ExcludeFromInteractiveRouting] attribute, so that globally Interactive Blazor applications could utilize .NET Identity (by using a hybrid routing approach). The reality however, is that it has always been possible to use .NET Identity with Interactive Blazor components – as long as you manage the process flow correctly in your Blazor application. In this session we will share a simple technique which allows Interactive Blazor components to integrate natively with .NET Identity, allowing you to leverage a modern security approach with fully interactive component rendering.
